YOUR WEEKEND: Enjoy free fishing this Saturday

The Las Vegas City Council will host a free Fishing Day Derby on June 13 at Floyd Lamb Park At Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road.

Bring a lounge chair, fishing pole and a picnic basket fto the park, which will offer free admission from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. that day.

The free fishing clinic and derby will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The clinic is an opportunity to learn knot-tying, lure and bait use, fish identification and conservation. A Kids Casting Contest will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The event is sponsored by Councilman Ross, who represents this area of Las Vegas, and the Las Vegas City Employees Association, which is helping fund this event. Fishing licenses are not required, but fishing limits do apply. For more information, contact Ross’ office at 229- 5463.
