Henderson has a host of cultural events this weekend that other valley residents might think are worth making the drive out for.
The 18th annual Prince Jonah Kuhio Ho’olaule’a Pacific Island Festival from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 14 at the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. Water St. The festival celebrates the music, dance, culture and history of the Pacific islands.
More than 100 exotic food and craft vendors will give demonstrations and sell their wares.
Admission is free, but there is a charge for food and activities. Money raised will benefit the Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club.
The Henderson Symphony kicks off its 2008-09 season at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. A pre-concert discussion will begin at 1 p.m. The concert is free.
It’s time once again for the Wine Walk, a continuing event to benefit New Vista Community. Sample a variety of wines at 20 tasting stations and enjoy live music from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 13 at The District at Green Valley Ranch.
Tickets are $30 each or $50 per couple and can be purchased at www.newvistacommunity.org or at The District.
