The Arizona Diamondbacks have had discussions with the city of Henderson regarding the possibility of relocating the team to Nevada. Henderson gave its side of the story, now it’s time to hear from the people of Arizona. LVRJ host Cassie Soto and LVRJ Sports Columnist Ed Graney made the trip to Phoenix to hear first-hand reactions from fans who have followed the team since its inception in 1998.

Durango softball beats Desert Oasis, 12-6

Durango’s softball team earned a 12-6 road win over Desert Oasis on Thursday
to lock up second place in the Southwest League. Kaitlin Fazenden hit a two-run homer in the third inning
to get the Trailblazers on the board. Winning pitcher Trinity Valentine hit a two-run single in the fourth to give Durango the lead for good. Valentine and Alexis Geraldo each drove in three runs for Durango, which had 13 hits. The Trailblazers took two of three games from the Diamondbacks, and will be the league’s No. 2 seed in the upcoming Sunset Region tournament.

Desert Oasis edges Bishop Gorman, 9-8

Desert Oasis’ baseball team edged visiting Bishop Gorman 9-8 on Monday in a key Southwest League game. Cole Schaefer induced a double-play grounder with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth to get the top-ranked Diamondbacks out of a jam. Chaison Miklich hit a two-run homer for Desert Oasis, which won despite walking 11 batters. Schaefer got the final five outs to earn a save and struck out Gorman’s John Gaughan with the potential tying run on base to end the game. The third-ranked Gaels host the Diamondbacks on Tuesday and Thursday to complete the Southwest League series.
