Updated June 23, 2017 - 7:05 pm

Daily high temperature records will be threatened this weekend in the Las Vegas Valley amid a continuing heat wave, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday’s high of 113 degrees tied the record for June 23 set in 1959, the only year the record daily high was reached, meteorologist Caleb Steele said.

Saturday is expected to reach 112 degrees, nearing the record high of 113 degrees, which was last reached in 1961, according to the weather service.

Sunday has a forecast high of 111 degrees.

Monday’s forecast high is 110 degrees. A slight cooling trend sets in Tuesday, with the high forecast at 107 degrees, Steele said.

Only light winds are expected throughout the weekend.
