Lighter winds, colder temps on the way saturday

Updated November 17, 2017 - 11:40 pm

The high winds experienced in the Las Vegas Valley on Friday are expected to weaken Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds near 10 mph on Saturday should follow Friday’s gusty winds, meteorologist Alex Boothe said. The drop in winds will coincide with a drop in temperatures over the weekend, with forecast highs of 62 degrees on Saturday and 64 on Sunday, he said.

Overnight lows also will drop over the weekend, he said, down to 45 degrees on Saturday night and 39 degrees Sunday night. Sunday’s low will mark the first time this fall valley temperatures could drop below 40.

“We’ve gotta put on our jackets for a couple of days,” Boothe said.

Temperatures could rebound with the new week. Monday’s forecast has a high of 69 degrees and Tuesday should reach 73, the weather service.
