Boyd Gaming earns final approval, expects to close $1.45 billion Peninsula deal Tuesday

Boyd Gaming Corp. cleared its final regulatory hurdle for the company’s $1.45 billion acquisition of Peninsula Gaming.

Kansas gaming regulators this week approved the transaction, which will give Boyd Gaming ownership of five casinos in Kansas, Iowa and Louisiana.

In a statement, Boyd Gaming said it expects to close the transaction Tuesday.

Boyd Gaming Chief Executive Officer Keith Smith said the acquisition strengthens the company financially “by diversifying our operations, nearly doubling our free cash flow.”

Boyd Gaming currently operates 17 casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Mississippi, Illinois, Indiana, and Louisiana.
