Kansas officials extend casino deadline indefinitely

TOPEKA, Kan. — The Kansas Lottery Commission is extending the deadline indefinitely for developers to apply for the contract to build a state-owned casino in the southeastern corner of the state.

The deadline for proposals to build and manage a state-owned casino in Cherokee or Crawford county has been extended repeatedly since Penn National Gaming Co. dropped its plans in September 2008. Last month, the commission set a new deadline of July 21.

But a Kansas broadcast outlet reports the Lottery Commission voted Wednesday to extend the deadline indefinitely.
