Arizona man sentenced to prison for car wreck that killed friend

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A northwest Arizona man responsible for the death of a friend in an alcohol-involved traffic accident received a five-year prison term Tuesday.

William Graham, 28, of Mohave Valley was sentenced in Kingman after previously pleading guilty to driving under the influence and manslaughter in the October 2011 death of Jeffrey Driesen, 44, also of Mohave Valley.

Authorities said Graham had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his bloodstream when he wrecked a 2007 Chevrolet pickup while he was driving Driesen and another friend home at 12:29 a.m. after they had been drinking at a bar.

“I can’t tell you how sorry I am,” Graham sobbed during the hearing. “I never meant to hurt anybody.”
