Las Vegas man gets prison in fatal shooting
A Las Vegas man on Thursday was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for fatally shooting his brother-in-law in 2009. Tracy Petkovich, 50, killed Doug Teed after a confrontation over letting Petkovich see his invalid mother who lived at the Teed home.
Petkovich’s sister, Kim Teed, had gotten a restraining order against him to keep him away from the elderly woman, but it was never served. The Teeds believed Petkovich was stealing money from his mother.
Doug Teed was killed on April 16, 2009, after Petkovich went to the Teed home on Endora Drive, near Flamingo Road and Rainbow Boulevard.
Petkovich in March pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon. He apologized during an emotional hearing before his sentencing by District Judge Douglas Herndon.
