Man gets 21 years to life for killing former Olympic boxer

A 29-year-old man was sentenced to 21 years to life in state prison in the slaying of 1996 Olympic bronze medal boxer Rhoshii Wells in a Las Vegas apartment courtyard.

Senior Clark County District Court Judge J. Charles Thompson sentenced Roger Randolph on Wednesday to 20 years to life for murder with a deadly weapon, plus one to 12 years for

discharging a weapon where a person might be endangered.

Wells was 31 when he was shot in August 2008 while walking with his 4-year-old son through an apartment complex near downtown Las Vegas.

Randolph was convicted by a jury in February. Authorities say the two may have had a dispute over a dice game.

Wells represented the USA as a middleweight at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
