Nevada Highway Patrol shut down part of Interstate 15 in North Las Vegas on Sunday after a man was found dead in a car.

North Las Vegas police said the man was discovered suffering from multiple gunshot wounds around 7:16 a.m. on the interstate north of Cheyenne Avenue in the southbound lanes.

The suspect in the homicide, 28-year-old Joseph De Luna, stayed at the scene. De Luna was booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center on suspicion of open murder with a deadly weapon.

The identity of the man killed will be released at a later date by the Clark County coroner’s office, police said.

I-15 southbound from Craig Road to Cheyenne was closed for several hours Sunday morning, and reopened around 2 p.m.
