Las Vegas police arrest woman on murder charge in boyfriend’s death
A suspect has been arrested in connection with a suspicious death Wednesday in the east valley.
Around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Metro patrol officers were dispatched to the Playa Vista Apartment complex at 3700 East Bonanza Road near North Pecos Road to investigate reports of a body found in some landscaping near the exit to the apartment complex, police said.
Arriving officers found the body of Las Vegas resident Darryl White Jr., 34, on the ground just outside the apartment complex. White had suffered some injuries that appeared suspicious, and detectives were called to the scene, police said.
Through the course of the investigation, homicide detectives located a vehicle in the parking lot of a business nearby. The vehicle, which was registered to White, had damage that indicated it had been involved in a recent collision.
Detectives then located 26-year-old Lahtijera Howard, who also was a registered owner of the vehicle, in the apartment complex where White’s body was found. Howard was in a dating relationship with White, and they lived together in the complex, police said.
As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested Howard in connection with the case. Howard was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, where she faces one count of open murder.
Metro is investigating this case as the 117th homicide of 2016. The Clark County coroner’s office has not determined the cause and manner of White’s death.
