Woman shot dead in vehicle near downtown Las Vegas

Police found a woman shot and killed inside a vehicle on Saturday morning near downtown Las Vegas.

At about 2:30 a.m., the Metropolitan Police Department received a report of a woman shot in the 400 block of 11th Street, according to a news release. When officers arrived, they found a woman inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman died at the scene, police said.

Metro later learned that the woman and a friend were sitting in the vehicle talking when two males walked past them, the release said. Moments later, shots were fired, and the woman was struck.

The woman’s identity, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.

The news release, issued Saturday afternoon, said the investigation was still ongoing and asked anyone with information to contact police.
