Man arrested in fatal stabbing near Boulevard Mall

A stabbing left one person dead, another in critical condition and a man in custody Tuesday, Las Vegas police said.
Two people suffered stab wounds at a residence in the 1400 block of Pawnee Drive, near the Boulevard Mall at Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway, said Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Robert Price.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Price, while a second victim who suffered stab wounds was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. That person, Price said, was in critical condition as of late Tuesday afternoon.
Roger Peralta, 41, was taken into custody Tuesday, Metro said in a news release Wednesday. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for open murder with a deadly weapon and attempt murder with a deadly weapon.
The call for service came in just after noon Tuesday afternoon. Price said a “physical altercation” in a laundry room area of a home between two people preceded the stabbings.
“A third occupant came into the laundry room to attempt to break up the altercation,” Price said. “At that time, the suspect pulled out a knife and begins stabbing both of those victims.”
After that, Price said, a fourth person armed with a hammer entered the room. That person was able to hold Peralta at bay until police arrive, Price said.
The names of the victims had not been released as of late Tuesday afternoon.
