The Grammy Awards is celebrating its 50th anniversary — and this year’s telecast promises plenty of what the Recording Academy offers best: thrilling live performances with an emphasis on unique musical pairings.

Nominee Kanye West was a late, but high profile, addition to the performance slate. The rapper, who leads the pack with eight nominations including album of the year, is expected to deliver a moving tribute to his mother, Donda West, featuring his hits "Stronger" and "Hey Mama," an insider reports. Many industry insiders consider West to be a frontrunner in several categories, including album of the year, for his third album, Graduation.
