Masato Shiga has worked as a sushi chef for 20 years, including 16 with Caesars Palace at Hyakumi Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, Nobu and Bacchanal Buffet. He and his wife, Makiyo Adachi, always wished there was a great Japanese restaurant near their home. “So, we opened our own,” Adachi said. Ninja Teriyaki & Sushi 2 Go opened March 27 and offers a variety of nigiri and hand-rolled sushi options from rainbow, shrimp tempura and tiger rolls to Spam rolls. Diners also can choose salads, chicken teriyaki bowls, beef sukiyaki, chicken sesame ginger bowls and tofu and veggie teriyaki bowls. Children with less adventurous palates may enjoy karaage, a Japanese version of fried chicken that comes with a choice of dipping sauces: creamy chili, a tangy yozu ponzu or Asian tartar sauce. Japanese candy, snacks and beverages also are available. Patrons are encouraged to call ahead for take-out orders and party platters. Despite the restaurant’s “2 Go” name, ample seating is provided for those who prefer to dine in. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
