For lovers of lutefisk: The Sons of Norway Desert Troll Lodge will have its traditional lutefisk and meatball dinner Nov. 1 at the Elks Lodge at 1217 Nevada Highway in Boulder City. China Poblano at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is celebrating the Day of the Dead with a dinner dedicated to Tin-Tan, a Mexican actor, singer and comedian who led the zoot-suit-centric Pachuco Movement in the ’50s. The featured dishes, which are being offered through Nov. 2, include a huitlacoche tamal ($10), slow-braised duck with mole ($14), salmon with peanut mole and marinated onions ($18) and more. …
The 48th annual World’s Championship Chili Cookoff is Friday through Sunday, with about 400 cooks competing in four categories and the winner of the traditional red chili category taking home a $25,000 prize. The action can be viewed at the Tyson Fan Zone &Marketplace at Mandalay Bay. Each cook will prepare 2 gallons of People’s Choice Chili for public tasting. Admission is free. …
