Clark County’s popularity in TV, films grows
If it seems like the Strip is appearing in more and more movies, television shows and commercials, that’s because it is.
Clark County issued a record number of film permits for the third year in a row, according to a news release.
Clark County issued 343 permits in 2013, 400 in 2014 and 440 in 2015. A permit costs $45 and is required for commercial filming that affects public property or the public right-of-way, such as on streets or sidewalks, according to the release.
“Our increasing popularity as a setting for films, commercials and television programs brings jobs and additional publicity to our community,” County Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak said.
The motion picture and television industry supports more than 7,900 jobs and brings in $330 million in total wages in Nevada, the release said.
Some noteworthy projects in 2015 include “The Ultimate Fighter,” “Top Gear,” “The Daily Show” and numerous commercials.
