38 artists participate in Skye Canyon Chalk + Cheers event

Landscapes, campfires, mountains, creatures, sunsets and other vibrant creations decorated the sidewalks Sept. 30 at Skye Canyon Park during the inaugural Chalk + Cheers, with 38 artists participating in the “Base Camp for the Great Outdoors” juried competition.

Winners included Allyson Moore (high school student category); Kris Relph (university student/amateur artist category) and Debra Giuffrida (professional artist category). The People’s Choice Award went to Jaclyn Tiffany, an entrant in the university student/amateur artist category.

Other activities included a painting by local artist Norah S. Siller, vendor art fair, children’s art workshops, a freestyle chalk art area and Cheers for Charity, which supported New Vista, a local nonprofit that assists intellectually challenged people.
