FIBER ARTS GUILD

HIGH TEA

A high tea to recognize the Mother of the Year honorees from First A.M.E. Church, Fountain of Hope A.M.E. Church and Holy Trinity A.M.E. Church will take place Saturday at the Four Seasons, 3960 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Mothers of the 2008 class of the Young Ladies of Distinction Scholarship Awards Cotillion also will be honored. Tickets are $55, with proceeds benefiting the Young Ladies of Distinction scholarship awards program (649-1774).

AWARDS GALA

Moms in Business Network will host the Create Your Dreams Awards Gala Saturday at Lake Las Vegas, 1600 Lake Las Vegas Parkway, Henderson (237-9773).

ISRAELI INDEPENDENCE DAY

The 60th anniversary of Israeli statehood will be celebrated during "Yom Ha’atzmaut," or Israel Independence Day, Sunday in Exhibit Hall D at The Venetian, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The event will feature entertainment by Habanot Nechama, exhibits, prizes and a kosher buffet from noon to 4 p.m., as well as a Mother’s Day celebration. The free event is open to the public (794-0090).

MUSICAL ARTS SOCIETY

The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society is looking for singers to perform in its annual pops concert, "Fabulous Broadway," May 31 and June 1 at the College of Southern Nevada’s North Las Vegas campus. Rehearsals will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sundays in Room 159 in the Beam Music Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway (451-6672).
