State insurance division introduces new website

The website at doi.nv.gov is designed to give consumers and businesses in Nevada information about insurance coverage and health insurance reform.

Consumers can go to rates.doi.nv.gov to review proposed health coverage rate changes and offer comments to insurance commissioners who review plans and costs.

Nevadans can search doi.nv.gov/licensing-search for the license of an insurance agent or company selling them coverage.

For employers, the division is offering a new, downloadable publication, “Nevada Employer’s Guide to the Affordable Care Act,” designed to answer common questions business owners have about how insurance reform will affect their company. Topics include who has to provide coverage, how to buy insurance and how federal law has affected insurance plans.

The guide is available at doi.nv.gov/News-Notices/Publications/.

“The Nevada Division of Insurance takes its role as a consumer protection agency seriously,” Commissioner Scott J. Kipper said. “We believe that the key to consumer protection is education, and our new website and guide do just that. I encourage anyone with questions about insurance to visit our new website, check out the great consumer information we have available and call our office if you still have any questions.”
