What: Dr. Greenthumb’s pruning clinic. Local horticultural experts along with Springs Preserve horticulturists will be sharing their knowledge through demonstrations to solve the mystery of proper pruning of trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, perennials, roses, herbs and fruit trees. With a few basic steps, participants will be able to improve plant quality, regulate plant growth, and maintain plant health.

Where: Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd.

Jan. 16

What: Composting in small spaces workshop. Angela O’Callaghan, a social horticulture specialist for the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, will teach gardeners how to make a balanced compost, as well as provide information about vermicomposting and more. The class is limited to 25 people.

Where: Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road

When: 8 a.m. to noon
