Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate 4-mile hike at Mount Charleston on the Robber’s roost Trail. On Tuesday, a moderate, 4-mile night hike around Calico Hills. On Friday, a moderate to strenuous 3-mile hike with a 950-foot elevation gain at Mary Jane Falls. On Saturday, an easy, ½-mile hike at Corn Creek Spring. Also Saturday, an easy, evening ½-mile hike look for bats at Red Springs (515-5367).

Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club’s website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, a 20-minute discussion ongoing from 1-4 p.m. on the predators of Southern Nevada. On Wednesday, an ongoing discussion at the visitors center from 10 a.m. to noon on the desert tortoise. On Thursday, learn about coyotes from 1-3 p.m. in the visitor center. On Friday, a program for 4-10 year olds on insects in Red Rock Canyon. Also Friday, a canyon clean up project. On Saturday, an interactive program for 2-6 year olds on lizards in the Mojave Desert. On June 27, ongoing nature stories will be read in the visitors center (515-5367).
