Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, get a close-up look at the Red Spring Thrust Fault on a moderate, 2½-mile hike from the Sandstone Quarry; for ages 10 and older. On Sept. 9, trek to the Lost Creek seasonal waterfall and then along the Spring Mountains Youth Camp trail to Ice Box Canyon, looking for fossils in an exposure of the Early Jurassic Kayenta Formation, on a moderate, 2½-mile hike; for ages 10 and older.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people 50 and older who are involved in hiking and related social activities plans several hikes each week of various difficulty levels, including an easy-to-moderate social hike on Saturdays. OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, view types of arachnids, reptiles, birds and mammals found at Red Rock in a tabletop presentation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the visitor center. Living and preserved specimens will be on display, and discussion and questions are encouraged. On Wednesday, create a beaded necklace, bracelet or earrings inspired by the beautiful colors of Red Rock in a jewelry-making workshop for ages 12 and older. All materials will be provided.
