Water Cooler: Pop culture fun, Aug. 4

Here are a few items in pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ Nevada-based broadcaster Art Bell, whose forte is the otherworldly and the paranormal, returns to radio next month with a nightly talk show on Sirius XM. Congratulatory telegrams immediately poured in from the Yeti, a group of Area 51 whistle-blowers and several insomniacs from Alpha Centauri.

■ Vdara’s new “Vdog” program includes doggie entrees such as baked chicken with brown rice, seared filet with sweet potatoes and sauteed beef with pasta, at prices ranging from $7 to $17. For that kind of food at those kind of prices, we’d be willing to lap up dinner on the floor sans utensils, too.

■ “Pin Up” star and 2011 Playboy Playmate of the Year Claire Sinclaire ■ is transformed into the superhero of her own comic book. Well, she certainly fits the (ahem) classic superheroine profile.
