Students at Eva Wolfe Elementary School got up close and personal with the valley’s history on Friday, examining fossil replicas from Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument.
The event helped launch the “Mammoth Penny Push” campaign to raise funds for the monument. Students will be collecting spare change to contribute to maintenance and restoration at the monument, and classes will compete for prizes for raising the most money, according to a school district news release.
Students and their families are also invited to participate in a clean-up day at the monument on April 30.
