Nevada receives $3.8M federal grant to help underperforming schools

Nevada has received more than $3.8 million to help fund underperforming schools.

The Nevada Department of Education announced Tuesday that it received the award from the U.S. Department of Education through its School Improvement Grant program.

Eligible schools in the state must now apply to receive grant money for the next five years. Funding will go to schools which show the greatest need and demonstrate the strongest likelihood for drastically improving student achievement.
