2 dead, 2 injured after head-on crash on northern 215 Beltway

A man and a woman died Monday evening after a fatal, three-car wreck on the northern 215 Beltway, Nevada Highway Patrol confirmed.

Both NHP troopers and North Las Vegas fire crews responded to the 5:41 p.m. crash, which happened in the westbound lanes of the beltway, just east of the Aliante Parkway exit.

The wreck initially involved two cars — identified only as a Lexus and a Buick — which slammed head-on into each other, NHP trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said. Another car, identified only as a Chrysler, then hit the wreckage.

It was not immediately clear which car crossed over the center line, causing the head-on collision.

On impact, the Lexus overturned, killing the man driving it, Stuenkel said. The woman driving the Buick died after being transported to University Medical Center.

Two others — the man and woman inside the Chrysler — were transported to UMC with minor injuries.

As of 9 p.m., all beltway lanes between Aliante Parkway and North Fifth Street — a 3-mile stretch — were shut down as NHP investigated. They reopened a little before 11:30 p.m.
