Authorities searching for man missing at Lake Mead

Authorities are searching for a man in his 60s who went missing while swimming Wednesday at Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

The park’s communication center received a 911 call at 1:20 p.m. of a swimmer who went underwater near Lake Mead’s Sentinel Island, spokeswoman Christie Vanover said.

She said crews with the National Park Service and Nevada Department of Wildlife have been searching the area for the past two days, and the search will continue Friday.

Vanover said witnesses reported the man wasn’t wearing a life jacket.
