CenturyLink outage affects Clark County 911 calls, Internet service

CenturyLink experienced a service outage that affected 911 calls, Internet access and store purchases in the northwest valley and on Mount Charleston on Tuesday morning.

Company officials said a fiber line was cut by a third-party construction crew around 8 a.m. Customers on Mount Charleston and the northwest Las Vegas Valley experienced issues with phone, Internet, Prism TV services and 911 calls, though CenturyLink noted that 911 was available by cellphone and the company was rerouting calls with issues.

Banks and department stores in the area were unable to complete transactions.

The company restored all services at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday.
