Clark County Commission changes fees for airlines at McCarran International Airport

Clark County commissioners approved a slate of fee changes on Tuesday that will make things a bit cheaper for airlines at McCarran International Airport.
Officials say the fees continue to be competitive compared to other major travel hubs, with McCarran’s fees placing it in the bottom half of similar airports. Average per-passenger costs are expected to decrease slightly for airlines.
Airlines pay multiple fees for things like terminal complex rentals, apron rentals, gate use and landing charges.
The total cost of all airline fees effective July 1 comes out to $11.66 per passenger for the next fiscal year, below that of many other airports in major metropolitan areas including Los Angeles and Denver.
Some individual fees increased while others went down. Overall, the fees at McCarran next year will average out to 26 cents less per passenger than the current fiscal year, which ends June 30.
For example, the cost per passenger for access to widely used areas such as baggage handling, the ticket counter and ticketing areas is going down from $1.76 to $1.73 for airlines with an established presence at the airport and from $2.20 to $2.16 for others.
Landing fees for airlines are decreasing from $2.33 to $2.13 per ton of landing weight.
Leased gate fees are increasing from $200,611 to $213,361 a year for airlines with a wide presence at the airport and from $250,763.75 to $266,701.25 a year for others.
An airport committee with representatives from all 17 major airlines at McCarran agreed to the fee changes before commissioners acted.
