Students carry their clothing from Operation School Bell at the Assistance League Assistance League of Las Vegas, 6446 W. Charleston Blvd., in Las Vegas, in March 2013. The nonprofit organization serviced about 50,000 children last year. (Special to View)
Earlier this year, View reader Penny Reese shared a photo of her blind dog, Nemo. Because Reese is a senior on a fixed income, she was unable to pay for his surgery. Other View readers stepped up to the plate to help out. Reese added, “Nemo has recovered. He had to wear the cone for a month and get eight medications a day. But it was all worth it because now he can see! I took him to the dog park recently, and he was playing and chasing a ball. He also likes to sit on my lap and stare into my face. Now, instead of tripping over my two cats, he chases them. It makes me so happy to see him having fun. Nemo and I would like to thank all of your readers who responded to his picture. This is definitely the best Thanksgiving for me and my fur kids.”
