Some families in Las Vegas got a break on their laundry bills Saturday.
Volunteers helped patrons get their loads washed for free at A+ Laundromat at 2448 E. Bonanza Rd., Las Vegas Coin Laundry #5 at 1748 E. Charleston Blvd. and Sunrise Laundromat at 276 N. Jones Blvd.
A news release from Current Initiatives, the organization that coordinated the “Laundry Project,” said the group has washed 43,400 loads of laundry for nearly 5,000 families during 192 projects nationwide. Current Initiative president Jason Sowell estimates his volunteers will tackle at least 700 loads of clothes, towels and linens for Las Vegas residents.
“When people think of poverty,” Sowell said, “Las Vegas rarely comes to mind. Unfortunately, the inner city has an emerging community that is experiencing the financial burden of washing and drying clothes and linens,” said Current President, Jason Sowell.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve Vegas residents for a 10th time and look forward to continue restoring faith and pride in these families,” he said.
