Highway patrols, police departments to monitor Interstate 15 traffic over Labor Day weekend

The California and Nevada highway patrols will join forces for Labor Day Weekend.

Beginning Friday and through the holiday weekend, the Metropolitan and Henderson police departments will work with the highway patrols to monitor the Interstate 15 corridor between California and Las Vegas, the California Highway Patrol said in a statement.

The agencies will focus on speed violations, the move over law, distracted driving, and commercial and seat belt enforcement. The California Highway Patrol will deploy fix-winged aircraft to measure speed.

On average, 45,000 vehicles enter Nevada from California daily on the Interstate 15 corridor, equating to an average of more than 16 million vehicles annually, the statement said. Traffic is expected to increase during the holiday on the corridor.
