Hiker found dead at Red Rock Canyon
A hiker was found dead Monday afternoon near Red Rock Canyon’s Turtlehead Peak trail, Las Vegas police said.
The hiker likely died in an accidental fall, Metro said in a news release.
Police received the call about 4 p.m. Sunday that a hiker went missing, the release said.
Search and rescue personnel searched until about 2 a.m. Monday and resumed their efforts at about 5 a.m. Monday morning, police said in a release.
Las Vegas police air unit assisted in the recovery of the body, and it was turned over to the Clark County coroner’s office.
The identity of the deceased hiker, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the coroner’s office.
