Man arrested in connection with fatal hit-and-run in Henderson

A man has turned himself in to police in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed a pedestrian Wednesday, police said.

According to Henderson police, Eric Scott Leppard, 24, turned himself in about 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The fatal collision occurred at about 11 p.m. Wednesday in a northbound lane of Boulder Highway north of Warm Springs Road, police said in a news release Saturday.

The pedestrian, identified only as a 50-year-old woman, was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash, and she died on the scene, the release said.

The vehicle involved in the crash, a silver 2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK, had been reported as stolen and was found abandoned several hours later, the release said.

Leppard was booked into the Henderson Detention Center, where he faces one charge each of hit-and-run, reckless driving with death and failure to render aid, police said. He does not face charges in connection with the stolen vehicle, but additional charges could be filed later, Henderson police spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.
