Man dies after being hit by vehicle in southeast Las Vegas Valley
A man in a wheelchair was killed after he was hit by a SUV in the southeast valley Monday night, Las Vegas police said.
Police were called to the scene about 7:25 p.m.
The man was crossing Desert Inn Road in the middle of the block, near Eastern Avenue, when he was hit by a Cadillac Escalade driving eastbound, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital, where he died. The driver of the Cadillac, 57-year-old Fernando Fernandez, was suspected of impairment and was arrested.
The pedestrian’s death marks the 117th traffic fatality Metro has investigated this year.
