Man, dog shot near downtown, gang unit investigating

A man and a dog survived a shooting that gang detectives were investigating in the central valley Sunday evening, Las Vegas police said.

The man, described to be in his 50s, was shot in the ankle and the injury was not considered to be life-threatening, Metro Lt. Bruce Miyama said. It wasn’t immediately clear where the Pit bull was shot, but it also survived.

Officers were called about 5:30 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Fairfield Avenue, near the intersection of Industrial Road and Chicago Avenue, police said.

Metro’s gang unit was still on the scene about 8 p.m. No arrests have been made and a suspect was not identified, Miyama said.
