Driver with revoked license arrested in fatal DUI crash on I-15

A 48-year-old man was killed early Tuesday in a crash near Primm, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Clark County coroner’s office.
Mazin Al Jawhar was killed in the collision, which occurred at 3:55 a.m., on the southbound Interstate 15 at mile marker 7, near Primm, troopers and the coroner’s office said.
In a news release, the Highway Patrol said that a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Eric Halton of Las Vegas, was traveling south on the interstate, north of mile marker six.
A Honda CR-V, occupied by the victim, was parked off the highway in the right shoulder.
The Chevy entered the right shoulder and struck the Honda, which overturned in desert terrain before ejecting Al Jawhar, police said.
According to troopers, Halton showed signs of impairment.
“Halton was also driving without a valid driver’s license as it was previously revoked for DUI,” police said in the release.
Halton was arrested at a local hospital and booked in absentia into the Clark County Detention Center on the following charges:
- Felony, DUI alcohol/drugs resulting in death or substantial bodily harm
- Reckless driving resulting in death
- Driving without a valid driver license
- Failure to drive within marked travel lanes
- Failure to wear safety belt
- Operating an unregistered vehicle.
