Motorcyclist critically hurt in western Las Vegas crash

A motorcyclist was critically injured Tuesday afternoon in a west valley crash, Las Vegas police said.

The crash happened about 3:20 p.m. on Westcliff Drive west of Rainbow Boulevard, a Metropolitan Police Department release said. A 2007 Honda CR-V attempted to make a left turn from a parking lot near 6900 Westcliff Drive as a 1999 Honda Shadow motorcycle was westbound on Westcliff, the release said.

The Honda tried the left turn onto eastbound Westcliff and entered the motorcycle’s path, causing the motorcycle to hit the Honda’s driver’s side, police said.

The 61-year-old man riding the motorcycle was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The 54-year-old Honda driver remained at the scene.

Excessive speeds and impairment didn’t appear to factor into the crash, police said.
