Motorcyclist, going at ‘high rate of speed,’ dies in northwest Las Vegas crash

A Las Vegas motorcyclist died Friday following a crash with a pickup truck in the northwest valley, police said.
According to a Metropolitan Police Department press release, the crash happened just before 6 p.m. at West Lake Mead Boulevard and James Bilbray Drive, which is just east of Lake Mead and Interstate 11.
The motorcycle driver, a 25-year-old woman who was operating a 2022 Suzuki GSX-R600, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
A 35-year-old man who was driving a 2024 Toyota Tacoma truck suffered minor injuries, police said.
The motorcycle was heading east on Lake Mead and was approaching Bilbray Drive “at a high rate of speed,” the news release said. A collision happened when the driver of the Toyota, which was stopped facing north on Bilbray Drive, made a left turn onto westbound Lake Mead.
The front of the motorcycle, the report said, hit the left side of the truck. Police said the man operating the truck did not show signs of impairment.
As of Saturday afternoon, the Clark County coroner’s office had not released the name of the woman.
The death marked the 64th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction so far this this year, according to the department.
