Motorcyclist killed in Tuesday crash identified

The motorcyclist killed in a Tuesday crash on Interstate 15 has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

He is 23-year-old Joshua Johnson, the coroner’s office said Wednesday morning.

The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. and closed northbound lanes of the interstate near the Cheyenne Avenue exit for nearly three hours, Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Preliminary investigation indicates Johnson was “traveling recklessly” on his 2005 Suzuki GSXR1000 northbound on the freeway, when he made “an unsafe lane change,” causing him to crash into a 2001 Toyota Corolla, a Wednesday morning release from NHP said.

Johnson was thrown from his motorcycle. The Suzuki continued east, crashing into the side of a 2014 Acura RDX, before overturning and catching fire, according to the release.

He was pronounced dead on the highway.

The other drivers were not hurt.
