Nellis search-and-rescue team seeking young volunteers
The Civil Air Patrol is seeking new members for its Nellis Composite Squadron who want to volunteer for search-and-rescue missions, squadron spokesman Maj. Mark Goodman said.
He said young adults and teenagers are invited to join.
“There is no military obligation associated with membership, and it is not necessary to have a military or aviation background. Cadets can earn college scholarships,” Goodman said in a news release.
The Nellis Composite Squadron is one of 16 in the state.
The Civil Air Patrol sponsors a teenage cadet program for girls, boys and young men and women ages 12 to 20.
Those interested in joining can attend one of the squadron’s weekly meetings. The squadron meets each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Airman Leadership School, Building 625, on Nellis Air Force Base, behind the Air Warfare Center on Swaab Street.
The squadron visitor van leaves the Nellis Main Gate Visitors Center parking lot at 6:15 p.m. every Tuesday for those who need a ride into the base and don’t have access to it with required military identification.ith required military identification.
