Northbound U.S. 95 reopens after accidents

Five separate traffic accidents involving up to 12 vehicles forced authorities to briefly close the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 95 north of Lake Mead Boulevard Friday afternoon.

Two lanes of the highway, which is already restricted in places because of construction, were re-opened at 3 p.m.

Traffic was being diverted off the freeway at Lake Mead Boulevard, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Joseph Fackrell said.

The cause of the accidents wasn’t immediately known. Some motorists reported injuries but none was serious, Fackrell said.
