Pedestrian killed after being struck by pickup in southeast valley
A pedestrian died after being struck by a pickup truck in the southeast valley, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
The pickup hit the person about 8:30 p.m. on Eastern Avenue, just south of Tropicana Avenue, Metro Lt. Rick Given said.
The person was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and later died.
It was unclear where the pedestrian was when hit by the pickup. Circumstances of the crash were not immediately available.
The northbound and southbound lanes of Eastern were shut down south of Tropicana near the Reno Avenue intersection after the crash, and they will remain closed for a few hours as Metro investigates.
