Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in southwest Las Vegas

Police are requesting the public’s help in locating a vehicle that fled the scene of a fatal crash involving a pedestrian early Friday morning in southwest Las Vegas.
About 1:40 a.m., a vehicle hit a pedestrian crossing Blue Diamond Road just east of Cimarron Road, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Jason Buratczuk said.
The pedestrian, identified only as a 54-year-old man, was not in a marked crosswalk at the time, he said.
Buratczuk said the man was found lying in the road by a Metro officer. Metro Lt. Rick Given said the officer was responding to a call regarding the body. The man was transported to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, San Martin Campus, where he was pronounced dead, he said.
Buratczuk said a headlight lens was found at the scene. The vehicle involved was silver of unknown make and model and likely to have front-end damage, he said.
Anyone with information regarding this incident can call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555, or *NHP, Buratczuk said.
