Slain woman ID’d; search goes on for another

The woman’s human remains found on Nov. 15 by a search team looking for a different woman were identified by the Clark County coroner’s office on Saturday.

Julia Lopez-Maravilla, 41, was found by Red Rock Search and Rescue team members Nov. 15 near state Route 147 and Pabco Road, Las Vegas police said. Her death by strangulation was ruled a homicide, the coroner’s office said.

Lopez-Maravilla had been killed in another location and abandoned in the desert, her body wrapped in plastic, police said.

Multiple rescue teams searched throughout the valley for Susana Villalvazo, who went missing on Nov. 5. She has yet to be found.
