Unresponsive hiker rescued at Goldstrike Canyon trail

An unresponsive hiker was rescued Wednesday afternoon at Goldstrike Canyon trail before being airlifted to the hospital.

About 3:30 p.m., a woman was reported on Goldstrike Canyon trail, Lake Mead National Recreation Area spokeswoman Christie Vanover said.

Power lines blocked access to the woman by air, Vanover said, so rescuers reached her by foot and “litter carried” her to Hoover Dam Lodge, Vanover said. From there, she was airlifted to University Medical Center.

The woman’s condition was not known. The woman was hiking with a partner, Vanover said, but it was unclear whether her partner called in the report.
