The Bureau of Land Management said Thursday that it will waive entrance fees to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
In a statement Thursday, the bureau said it’s joining other Interior Department agencies in waiving the fees.
Regularly, cars are charged $7 to enter the conservation area, while bicyclists and pedestrians are charged $3, BLM spokeswoman Kirsten Cannon said. The statement said additional fees, such as those associated with overnight camping and group day use, will remain in effect.
The bureau said park entry fees will also be waived for Presidents Day weekend, Feb. 14 through 16; on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 26; and Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area drew 2 million visitors in 2015, Cannon said.
