Way cleared for Henderson tavern to operate around the clock

A soon-to-open Henderson restaurant may operate 24 hours a day, the Henderson City Council decided Tuesday.

Giuseppe’s Italian Grille has been undergoing inspections and plans to open to the public at 9 p.m. on April 18, said Joe Slyman, one of the owners.

The Henderson Planning Commission previously denied a request by The Giuseppe Group to operate as a tavern at 2630 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, near Eastern Avenue. The City Council reversed that decision Tuesday.

Without the approval, Giuseppe’s would have been required to close between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. each day.

Previous businesses at the location operated 24 hours a day. The Giuseppe Group bought the property from Nevada State Bank last year.

Because the business had been closed more than 180 days, city officials said, the new business could not be grandfathered in under old regulations that would have allowed it to operate 24 hours a day.

In allowing Giuseppe’s to operate as a tavern, the City Council reduced the distances required to separate it from three other taverns, two churches and a school.
